Talib’s Arrow refers to a saga of tales about a legendary figure in Galean lore named Talib, who is said to have circumnavigated the world several times. The tales say that the man looked at the stars and pledged to follow a constellation (now also called Talib’s Arrow) to see where it would take him. Because of the tilt and rotation of the planet, Talib’s path was never exactly the same no matter how many times he followed the arrow. Modern scholars claim that the true saga includes over a thousand tales of Talib on his travels. Several regions of Galeon have their own tales about Talib, and the things that happened when he visited them. Many attempts have been made to compile all the tales into a single source, but none have been absolutely complete.
One well-known tale in Talib's saga tells of an instance in which Talib and a traveling companion of his, a shaman from the isles across the southern ocean, were able to charm and outsmart a power-hungry Rasharan sorcerer who had the ability to bend others to his will. The sorcerer attempted to use his power to turn the people of Rashara into his adoring subjects with him as their King. Talib acts as the intellectual, rational influence in the story, while his companion acts as a moral and emotional foil to him as they combine their strengths to defeat the sorcerer. The story appeals to the egalitarian, anti-monarchic principles of many Galeans, and is often cited as a good example of how Cranite and Salican principles can compliment one another.
